If you are looking for some holiday cheer during this season, then I will recommend visiting New York City. New York during the holidays is always very fun, and if you haven’t yet, I will suggest you book a trip there ASAP.
I was in New York recently for a concert and apart from the very confusing metro stations, I had a wonderful time, and I can’t wait to be back next year. Below are a few things/places I visited while I was in New York for three days.
Time Square:
No visit to New York City is complete without a walk in Time Square. Nothing has changed much but there’s always something about the bright lights, the large billboards, and the famous red stairs that is always captivating. The streets are very full, so be careful when walking around, but the. City is alive again after the pandemic so be sure to stop by when you’re in New York.
Rockefeller Center:
I mean the Rockefeller center speaks for itself. A visit to New York City during the holidays is not complete without a stop at the Rockefeller center to the lit Christmas tree. I was unlucky and I visited and left the city without the tree being lit up, so I missed taking a picture Infront of the huge Christmas tree. The good news is the Christmas tree is all lit up now so you can visit and take your Christmas pictures.
SOHO and The Grey Dog Restaurant:
I visited SOHO for the first time during my most recent trip to New York. I had brunch at , and the food did not disappoint. I had fries and grilled cheese with tomato sauce and I can proudly say that this is one of the best grilled cheese sandwiches I have ever had. The cheese was very light, and the bread lightly toasted giving it a crunchy taste. I will be back when next I am in New York so I can try some other items on the menu.
After brunch, I took a walk and visited some of the vintage stores, I didn’t buy any items, but I bought a pair of cute white shades from MURE AND GRAND. I walked around for like an hour, admiring the city, and the beautiful Christmas lights they had in the streets. I especially enjoyed seeing the small grocery stores on the streets as it reminded me of my home country of Cameroon. The stores were very traditional and carried so many different items, ranging from fresh fruits, clothing, and fresh seafood.
St. Patrick’s Cathedral:
The St Paul cathedral is the mother church of the Archdiocese of New York. It is located in Fifth Avenue opposite the Rockefeller Center and I must say it is a work of art. If you’re Roman Catholic, I will recommend you attend mass here as they’ve so many mass times. If you are not Roman Catholic, you are still welcome to visit the church and take pictures of this masterpiece. The building stands high and tall in the middle of the busy streets of New York. The inside is very captivating with very modern decorations and art work.
Winter Village at Bryant Park:
One of the best parts of the holiday season for me is to visit a Christmas market. I went to my very first Christmas market when I was in London 2 years ago. I had such a great time with all the holiday cheer, there was a stage with a choir singing several Christmas carols, there was lots of food, and hot drinks. I ate and ate till my stomach was stuffed but trust me it was all worth it. Since then, I always try to visit a Christmas market during the holidays, and I was very glad when I stumbled upon the winter village at Bryant Park in New York. I had a sandwich and hot chocolate, then walked around visiting the pop up shops, while listening to some Christmas carols.
