Chicago is one of my favorite places to visit during the fall, spring, and summer (I don’t visit there during the winter season, and we all know why). Chicago, on Lake Michigan in Illinois, is among the largest cities in the U.S and is very well known for its bold architecture, and skyscrapers.
Visit the Cloud Gate:
Affectionately called “The Bean,” Anish Kapoor’s Cloud Gatehas become synonymous with the Chicago experience. The Cloud Gate is the centerpiece of AT&T Plaza at Millennium Park in the Loop community area of Chicago, Illinois. The sculpture and AT&T Plaza are located on top of Park Grill, between the Chase Promenade and McCormick Tribune Plaza & Ice Rink.
Visit Chinatown:
Chinatown boasts an extensive roster of shops, cafes, dim sum spots and teahouses. If you are craving any Asian related food, drinks, baked goods, this is where you should go as the options are endless. The famous South Korean bakery Tous Les Jours is also located in this area. At Chinatown Chicago, you will also find some K-pop stores where you can shop for some K-pop albums and merchandise.
Visit the only Nutella cafe in the USA:
This Nutella themed cafe is the only one located here in the United States so you might want to visit when next you are in Chicago. Be prepared for some long lines so it is advisable to go earlier in the day and maybe stay aways during the weekends if you wish to avoid the long lines. They offer both sweet & savory dishes so I am sure you will find something you like.
Try one of the Chicago River Tour:
No trip to Chicago is complete without a boat tour. One of the best ways to see Chicago is from the water. Chicago is home to two stunning waterfronts; the Chicago River and Lake Michigan. They both offer plenty of cruise options. Admire the skyline on a lakefront cruise, learn about the city’s iconic architecture on a Chicago River cruise ( this is a must do if you have to pick just one option), enjoy dinner and dancing aboard an all-glass vessel, sip cocktails on a tiki-themed boat, paddle your own kayak, and many more.
Walk and do some shopping at Magnificent aisle:
The Magnificent Mile is one of the most famous shopping areas in Chicago. It is home to some very popular stores like Gucci, Louis Vuitton, Zara, Burberry (my favorite Burberry building) , Saks 5th Avenue, Nordstrom, and many more. This area also includes lots of restaurants, attractions, and architecture all on one iconic street.
Visit the Art Institute of Chicago:
The Art Institute of Chicago, founded in 1879, is one of the oldest and largest art museums in the world. It is based in the Art Institute of Chicago Building in Chicago’s Grant Park. Recognized for its curatorial efforts and popularity among visitors, the museum hosts approximately 1.5 million people annually.
Visit the Chicago Lincoln Park Zoo:
Lincoln Park Zoo, also known as Lincoln Park Zoological Gardens, is a 35-acre zoo in Lincoln Park, Chicago, Illinois. The zoo was founded in 1868, making it the fourth oldest zoo in North America. It is also one of a few free admission zoos in all of North America.
Take a walk along the shore of Lake Michigan:
I always enjoy my long morning walks along lake Michigan so I will definitely recommend you do the same. Just walk around, feel the breeze, and admire the bold architecture of Chicago and the skyscrapers. There is a walking trail along the river so enjoy your morning or evening walk or run.
Visit the Navy Pier:
Navy Pier is a 3,300-foot-long pier on the shoreline of Lake Michigan, located in the StreeterVille neighborhood of the Near North Side community area in Chicago, Illinois. They will occasionally have some fireworks here at nighttime so be on the lookout.
Eat some deep dish pizza.
No trip to Chicago is complete without eating the deep dish pizza. Chicago-style pizza is pizza prepared according to several styles developed in Chicago, widely referred to as deep-dish pizza due to its cooking style. The pan in which it is baked gives the pizza its characteristically high edge which provides ample space for large amounts of cheese and a chunky tomato sauce.
Enjoy your trip!
