If you are like me and need to get rid of that stubborn body fat in a few months, these are the exercises I did to assist my weight loss journey. Also, you must ensure that you are in a calorie deficit to successfully lose weight. So going on a diet, and exercise to burn off excess fat and calories is ideal for a successful and sustainable weight loss. Here are a few excesses I did to successfully lose over 30 pounds in 3 months.
1. Running:
I will consider running one of the most efficient cardio exercises to burn lots of calories and shed off some pounds. I was never really into running in the past, but I had to take upon this new challenge during my weight loss journey. I remember the morning of May 27th, 2022, when I went out for my very first run at the park. I was struggling to even run for over 2 minutes, I was so out of breath and my heart rate was spiking (that was when I knew I was out of shape). I pushed myself as hard as I could while also listening to my body. The first day of my run was very challenging so I did lots of intervals between running and walking to keep my heart rate up. I started very slow as I didn’t want to injure myself and I built my stamina along the way. I found myself running 2 miles a day nonstop, to 4 miles a day nonstop and eventually 6 miles a day nonstop. After running for over 10 months, I decided to challenge myself, and I joined my first ever 5k run in Washington DC. I successfully completed the race and brought my medal home. That medal is my pride and a remembrance of where I started and how far I have come. Some tips to help you run better are to get comfortable clothes, invest in good comfortable running shoes, get a good playlist that will keep you going, push yourself daily and most importantly listen to your body.
2. Strength Training:
Strength Training is for building muscles and muscles help you burn fat faster even when at rest. I didn’t incorporate strength training into my workout routine when I started working out. I started strength training about 2 months into my weight loss plan because I was now comfortable going to the gym and I had learnt how to use the equipment.
3. Jump rope:
I ordered a new jump rope on amazon, and I incorporated it into my workout routine the same way I started running. I will jump 150-200 ropes after my run, and I must say it is a very good cardio exercise.
4. Kickboxing:
This is something I do for fun, and I really do enjoy it because you get to work almost all your muscles during a session. I was very sore after my first two sessions, and it took a few days for me to feel better. Kickboxing touches so many muscles and I will recommend an hour session once or twice a week for a total body workout and as a bonus you get to learn some major fight and defense skills and let out some steam and frustration. I mean who doesn’t like to kick ass during some calories.
5. Cardio exercises like burpees, jumping jacks, dancing and basically anything to keep your heart rate high:
I would usually incorporate some of the exercise above to complete my 1:30 mins daily workout session. I will also recommend some HIIT workout videos to assist you in your workout in case you don’t know where to start and what to do.
GET THAT SUMMER BODY READY.
