Attending a Kpop Concert: Ateez Edition
I am a big fan of K-pop (Korean Pop) and I have been listening to kpop since 2012. Initially my sister and I first got into anything Korean by watching our first Kdrama Boys over Flowers and well the rest is a story for another day.
Fast forward to 2019, I was listening to my kpop playlist on apple music and this unfamiliar song comes on. I didn’t recognize the song and normally I will skip any unknown songs, but I couldn’t skip this song. I found myself dancing to the song, and once it was over, I looked at the song title and it was Treasure by Ateez, and my initial reaction was “WHO IS ATEEZ?”.
Three years later, Ateez is now my favorite Kpop group, and I have seen them on stage four times so far and most recently during their Break the Wall tour in New Jersey on November 27th and 28th.
Day 1 of the show started a few minutes after 8pm. Their junior group opened the show and here comes Ateez opening the show with “New World” amid the loud screams of Atinys (Ateez fandom name). They went ahead to provide one of the best concerts I have ever attended. The stages were very well planned out, they sang live to every song while providing very difficult and complicated choreography.
Ateez are great performers and they shone better on stage, they know how to command the crowd because they got all of us screaming, and dancing along for over 2 hours non stop. At the end of the who, we were begging them to stay.
There is no bad seat in an Ateez concert because you can feel the energy no matter where you are seated and you can hear the vocals, I mean they have the best vocalist in their generation who goes by the name of Choi Jongho.
Ateez members have said several times in the past that they always perform on stage like it’s their last stage because they don’t know when they will have their next opportunity. With that being said, they always bring their 110% on stage and give their best performance each time. They have this mindset because they debuted from a barely unknown company KQ entertainment and Ateez is their first ever boy group.
Day 2 of the show started a few minutes after 7:30 pm and my sister and I had way better seats at the lower level. I was starstruck as I couldn’t believe the group I admire, and respect so much is standing right next to me about to perform. The energy at the venue was better than day 1, the screams were louder and Ateez once again gave us their all and provided another great show that is worth what you paid for and even more. They danced, sang, joked around, and communicated with the fans in English.
Overall, wonderful experience both days. I danced, I screamed, I sang along while waving my light stick. This was my 3rd time seeing Ateez this year and I can’t wait to see them again when they are back in North America.
Thank you Ateez for all and thank you for these beautiful stages, until next time. This Atinys will always be next to you and support you.
What’s next on the Kpop series? Be sure to come back for more updates.
Hints….it is a very popular girl group.
